Whether building solar ovens, sewing circuits into fabric to create e-textiles or designing and programming robots, the Westfield Public School District’s STEM camp combined project-based learning, ingenuity and fun for a sixth summer.
The Extended School Year Program for preschool through high school students in the Westfield Public School District is in its 16th year, with a continued focus on maintaining and strengthening academic skills through the summer to prepare students for the new school year.
Westfield students representing 6 different languages recently enjoyed a weeklong summer camp focused on providing meaningful enrichment activities for students to continue their English language acquisition while having fun.
Kindergartners at Lincoln School in Westfield take the stage to perform show tunes from popular Broadway productions including “Annie,” “Guys and Dolls,” “Matilda,” “Seussical” and “The Sound of Music.”
Hundreds of students and their families from Westfield Public Schools participated in a recent districtwide community service effort in support of homeless shelters, fighting hunger campaigns, senior citizens, rescue animal organizations, and others in need of charitable help.
The Westfield Public School District has been named one of the “Best Communities for Music Education” in the nation for its outstanding commitment to music education.
At its May 8 meeting, the Westfield Board of Education approved the appointment of Elizabeth Delasandro as Supervisor of K-12 Mathematics and Warren Hynes as Westfield High School Assistant Principal.
